Swift began to develop an interest in music in her early years and soon progressed from performing in children's shows to making her debut in front of an audience. Swift began writing music in the teen years. She sang The Star-Spangled Banner for a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. Swift was inspired by artists from the country genre, such as Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks and now the Chicks in order to write original music which reflected the alienation she experienced by the age of 13. Swift relocated from Pennsylvania along with her parents to Hendersonville, Tennessee when she turned 13 to devote more time to contacting the country music labels.
